Members' 25-Year Reminiscences

Thomas E. Nutt-Powell, AICP

Capital Needs Unlimited
Brookline, Massachusetts

Nothing like a letter describing something that got started over 25 years ago, and in which one was a participant to make one recognize that time moves on.

I was one of the founders of Student Planning/Network, while pursuing an MCP at Harvard 1967-1970. Later I ran a petition campaign (the first, I believe, and successful) to be a member of Board of Governors of AIP, on which I served 1973-1976. Among my platform topics: merger of AIP and ASPO. And so it happened.

I also had the pleasure while a student of interviewing Charles Eliot, then in his late 80s, who had been present at the founding of AIP (courtesy of family connections) on Newbury Street in the early part of the 20th century. He, of course, went on to head the National Planning Board until it was legislated out of existence.

In any event, best wishes on the various celebrations and continuing good work of APA.
