Members' 25-Year Reminiscences

Joseph A. Pobiner, AICP

Associate and Director of Planning
HKS, Inc.
Dallas, Texas

In the past 25 years, the rise of technology and personal computers has not only altered the planning profession, but the very nature of work and play. Technology enabled the practical use of telecommuting for millions of "teleworkers." Planners can easily collect aerial and satellite data with the click of a mouse. Public hearings and project information can be posted on the Internet, reaching worldwide audiences at little cost. In a relatively short time, computers have become integral in our lives (whether we like it or not).
