| CASE STUDIES
Building upon the cases that were developed in the March 1994 document Toward a Standardized Land-Use Coding System , the project studied three jurisdictions for their land-use data classification needs. After the first draft of the standards were developed, three more jurisdictions were studied. We used all data sets test the following:
Initially, the project focused on three jurisdictions (and the authors who studied the cases) are as follows:
After the first drafts were completed, we refined the categories, coding systems, and implementation tools using data from many jurisdictions (two of which gave their complete parcel databases), some of whom have agreed to share the data only on the condition of anonymity. The data files and reports are currently being reviewed for copyright and other considerations before posting them on the web. However, if your community wants the data for studying LBCS, please send an e-mail request to lbcs@planning.org with details of your needs. We will attempt to send you the files. (They are zipped files whose sizes range from 40 to 50 megabytes). We hope to provide all the relevant data eventually on this website, along with the thematic maps we generated using LBCS dimensions. | |
