7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. ET

The operation of the zoning board of adjustment and the challenges it faces are the focus of this training program in three segments. Throughout, ZBA members will learn legal and ethical decision making. In the first segment, presenters discuss the purposes of the board and how it conducts sound public meetings. Learn to take testimony, assess reports and presentations, and make meetings accessible to all participants. In segment two, review practices that commonly lead to litigation. Learn about variances and how to develop defensible findings of fact. Segment three focuses on conditional and special uses.

This is an encore performance of a program that was previously delivered.

Note: The program is designed for ZBA members and therefore provides no AICP CM credit.
