National Community Planning Month Events
Students organized two events to raise student awareness of ideological attacks on planning and how to address them appropriately in public forums. They were inspired by a presentation by Robin Rather, a communications consultant hired by APA to research sustainability and planning.

The first event, to which all students were invited, focused on the increasing importance of ideologically based attacks on planning as left wing or UN–based conspiracies.

The second event, also open to all students, featured a guest speaker with significant experience in planning, especially in Iowa. Both through his presentation and his presentation style, Gary Lozano, AICP, demonstrated the skills and knowledge that are needed to sell planning to a reluctant public.
