ToP Facilitation Methods TrainingInstitute of Cultural Affairs - USASan Francisco Bay Area, CA Technology of Participation (ToP) Facilitation Methods training helps groups think, talk and work together. It provides group facilitators with structured methods that allow a group to deal with more data in less time while incorporating the contributions of all. ToP methods enable integrated thinking and they help minimize polarization and conflict.
This training teaches the foundational values of: Inclusive Participation, Teamwork and Collaboration, Individual and Group Creativity, Action and Ownership, and Reflection and Learning. ToP methods use innovative approaches that have been extensively researched and field tested. These methods are supported by practical results that have proven sustainable over time, giving participants renewed confidence in their capability to support participative approaches and strategies in their organization.
Instructors: Jane Stallman Jane Stallman
Jane holds a M.B.A. from The Drucker Center, Claremont Graduate School, is Senior Partner, Center for Strategic Facilitation, a San Francisco Bay Area Training and Facilitation company that conducts ToP training. Jane is a certified ToP Facilitator and is also certified through the International Association of Facilitators. She is a Mentor Trainer in the Institute of Cultural Affairs ToP courses.
In her facilitation work, Jane helps teams and organizations clarify their direction and develop implementable strategic action plans. Clients call on Jane to facilitate complex meetings and off-sites, frequently with partners and other stakeholders participating. She frequently works with situations that require both excellent communication and facilitation skills.
Jane has taught business and human resource management classes at De Anza Community College, organization behavior and management courses at the University of Phoenix, and is a mentor trainer for the Institute of Cultural Affairs’ Group Facilitation Methods and Participatory Strategic Planning courses.
Jane's clients include private and public sector organizations – local, state and federal government agencies, school districts, for-profit organizations and non-profits. As an internal consultant at Lockheed’s SkunkWorks© Jane managed organizational development, leadership development, advanced technology training and succession planning.
Jane is a member of the International Association of Facilitators, the Bay Area Facilitators Guild and the Institute for Cultural Affairs. She served as a commissioner of the Family & Youth Task Force and the Housing & Human Services Commission for the City of Sunnyvale and served on the Board of the Institute of Cultural Affairs. Jane has a second Masters in Urban Studies with a focus in Program Planning from Occidental College. She was a CORO Foundation Fellow in Los Angeles.
Marti Roach Marti Roach, MSW, CTF
Marti is a trainer, consultant and fund developer with over 30 years experience working in the public benefit and government sectors. She brings a strong belief in the power of collaboration and participation to bring out the best results. Her education and expertise has a foundation in community organizing, non-profit management and governance, and know-how in training and capacity-building.
For twenty years she played a lead role at Bay Area Community Resources, assisting it as it grew from a small county organization to a larger regional non-profit that changes the life of thousands of young people annually. In her consulting capacity, she has helped over 100 advocacy, social service, health, youth development and environmental organizations raise funds and develop enhanced plans and programs.
Marti’s passion and experience in facilitation and organization development are focused on supporting strategic thinking and planning efforts, multi-stakeholder community change projects, leadership learning communities and staff and board off-sites.
Marti is a Senior Partner with the Center for Strategic Facilitation, a mentor trainer in the Institute of Cultural Affair's ToP® Methods and a Certified ToP Facilitator (CTF). She has an MSW from the University of Michigan that honed her community organizing skills. She earned her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) Credential in 1985.
