Dale H. Markowitz
is a principal at the law firm of Thrasher, Dinsmore & Dolan, where he practices in the areas of eminent domain, municipal law, real estate law, zoning, litigation and corporate law. Mr. Markowitz earned his B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. He is a member of the Geauga County, Ohio State and American bar associations. Mr. Markowitz is a frequent lecturer in zoning and real estate topics. He acts as special counsel to municipalities, townships and county government. Mr. Markowitz has created numerous condominium and cluster developments, and represents community associations.
Charles Riehl
is a partner of the Cleveland law firm of Walter & Haverfield LLP, where he practices in the areas of business litigation services, environmental law, municipal law, public law and real estate law. Mr. Riehl divides his practice between private client representation for the firm's litigation group and municipal representation for its public law group. In his municipal practice, he serves as law director of the city of Hudson, and the villages of Cuyahoga Heights, Richfield and Gates Mills, Ohio. Mr. Riehl has formerly served as the law director of Shaker Heights and Solon. As part of his public law practice, he has dealt with a wide variety of zoning, telecommunications, employment, civil service, environmental and construction issues. Mr. Riehl has established a regional council of governments for housing purposes and helped establish non-profit corporations for public self-insurance pools. As an accomplished appellate lawyer, he has argued a number of notable cases. Mr. Riehl is a member of the Cuyahoga County Law Directors Association, the Ohio State and American bar associations, and the National Institute of Municipal Law Officers. He earned his B.A. degree from Colgate University and his J.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University, where he was research editor for the Case Western Reserve Law Review.
Anthony Vacanti
is an attorney in the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP. Mr. Vacanti's practice focuses on matters involving real estate, land use, zoning, development, and eminent domain. He regularly appears before administrative boards and courts concerning zoning and land use matters and works with clients and governmental entities to ensure compliance with local zoning and development regulations. Additionally, Mr. Vacanti represents property owners in eminent domain actions and real property tax valuation matters. He also represents clients in all aspects of real estate transactions and developments, including the leasing, acquisition and sale of real estate, drafting complex real estate documents, addressing title and other due diligence matters. Mr. Vacanti is a member of the Ohio State, Akron, Cleveland Metropolitan and American bar associations. He earned his B.A. degree from American University, and his J.D. degree, magna cum laude, from Case Western Reserve University Law School.
Gary Werner
is a member of the Beachwood law firm of Berns, Ockner & Greenberger, LLC, where his practice concentrates on zoning, planning, eminent domain, municipal and commercial law, and business transactions. He earned his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, from the University of California at Los Angeles, and his J.D. degree from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Mr. Werner is a Phi Beta Kappa member. He is admitted to practice in the state of California and the state of Ohio, before the Federal District Courts for the Central District of California and the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, and before the 6th Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. Mr. Werner is a member of the American, Medina County, and Cleveland Metropolitan bar associations, and the Medina County Home Builder's Association. Mr. Werner currently serves as the mayor of the city of Brunswick, Ohio (pop. 35,000), and is a former vice mayor, ward 1 councilman, and councilman-at-large for the city. He has served as chair of City Council's Finance, Economic Development, and Planning & Zoning Committees. He also served as council's representative to the City's Planning Commission, and was a member of Brunswick's Board of Zoning Appeals. Mr. Werner has presented regularly on topics which include regulatory takings, township zoning, subdivision regulations, mechanic's liens, and the Ohio Marketable Title Act.
