Webinar: CanVis Virtual Workshop NOAA Coastal Services Center Free event Online webinar open to all.
CanVis is a visualization program used to "see" potential impacts from coastal development or environmental changes. Users can download background pictures and insert the objects (hotel, house, marina, or other objects) of their choosing. The software is used by municipalities to brainstorm new ideas and policies, undertake project planning, and make presentations.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
• Discuss basic visualization concepts and options • Acquire their own imagery for visualizations • Identify ethical and legal issues associated with photo-realistic simulations • Demonstrate basic knowledge of what CanVis is, as well as its advantages and limitations • Understand which scenarios work best with CanVis • Create visualizations using many of the software’s tools and functions • Explore future project ideas and potential applications
More Instructors: Adam Bode Adam Bode is a GIS Spatial Analyst working for The Baldwin Group at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Coastal Services Center, headquartered in Charleston, S.C. The Center supports state and local coastal resource managers throughout the coastal U.S. and Great Lakes. Adam’s background is in marine science, specifically coastal zone management. He also specializes in providing technical support and capacity building for state and regional ocean energy planning, as well the development of best practices and tutorials for various geospatial tools.
