Transportation Grant Writing WorkshopWts Portland ChapterPortland, OR The WTS Professional Development committee is presenting a Grant Writing Workshop that is tailored to transportation professionals. Led by Rob Bertini and KC Cooper, the 3-hour workshop will include interactive activities and expert panelists from both the private and public sectors that have significant recent experience with transportation grant proposals. Participants will leave with real world tips and knowledge for writing winning grant proposals.
More Instructors: Robert Bertini Robert Bertini is a professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Portland State University. From 2009-2011, Bertini served as Deputy Administrator of the Research and Innovative Technology Administration at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Earlier at PSU, he helped develop the Intelligent Transportation Systems Laboratory and the Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium (OTREC).
A registered professional engineer in Oregon and California, Bertini's experience includes work with local government, several national transportation consulting firms and the auto industry. He has supervised students in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Urban Studies and Planning, Computer Science, and Statistics at the undergraduate, Master's and Ph.D. levels, and teaches courses in intelligent transportation systems, public transportation and transportation operations. Bertini is the author or co-author of many publications including journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters and technical reports. He chairs the Transportation Research Board Committee on Traffic Flow Theory and Characteristics, and received a National Science Foundation CAREER award. An active French horn player and former city planning commissioner, Bertini earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo; an M.S. in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University, and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
KC Cooper KC Cooper, Communications Specialist for David Evans and Associates, has over 28 years of experience in facilitation and communication strategies. She provides public involvement for large transportation around the Portland metropolitan region. KC has worked in the private, public and non-profit sectors, and has written successful grants for non-profits. She recently authored the Sellwood Bridge TIGER III grant, which received federal funding. (3 Ratings)
