Project Life Support: Building Leadership Capacity with Planning Tools APA Nevada ChapterLas Vegas, NV This interactive panel discussion will focus on tools that facilitate leadership from a variety of sources. Representatives from elected bodies, agencies, and the private sector will present examples of tools and practices used to establish the foundation for projects and planning objectives to continue forward through implementation.
Key discussion points include building organizational knowledge, nurturing political will, developing internal champions, creating project charters, building community leadership, planning for action, legacy and longevity, and community investment. After a series of short panel presentations, session participants will divide into four smaller groups, each led by one of the speakers. Using a given planning scenario, group participants will share with each other their best practices for building investment, involvement, and capacity to see projects through planning, permitting and implementation.
The groups will then come together as the large group to share key points from their discussion and add to the “tool” box. Participants will be able to take away a suite of planning tools with knowledge of how they have been used and their potential application for current planning efforts. Conversations will focus on methods that set the stage for projects to have a life after the initial plan is completed.
