Live Webinar: Public Officials and Form-Based Codes 2

Form-Based Codes InstituteChicago, IL

Arlington County Board member Chris Zimmerman has gained much experience with the development and administration of form-based codes during the past decade. As a leader of his county's successful effort to revitalize the Columbia Pike, a major corridor through the county that long suffered from lack of new development, he learned the ins and outs of form-based coding from a public official's perspective.

Chris will describe the challenges presented by the Columbia Pike code as a code specifically for a built-up area. He will discuss the adaptations that were made, and the special questions that arose about affordable housing and related issues. Chris will discuss the challenges of code administration, preparing staff, and helping city officials to understand how the code works.

Webinar participants will see the behind-the-scenes work that went into making the Columbia Pike code a success in bringing new development to the corridor.
