More Instructors: Joseph Azrack Mr. Azrack brings to Apollo over 30 years of real estate investment management experience. Prior to joining Apollo, Mr. Azrack was President and CEO of Citi Property Investors (“CPI”) where he chaired the firm’s Management and Investment Committees and guided the firm’s investment strategy. Apollo acquired CPI in 2010 and it has been integrated into Apollo Global Real Estate. Mr. Azrack was also a member of the Citigroup Alternative Investments Management Committee and Investment Committee, and a member of Citi Infrastructure Investment Committee.
Prior to joining CPI, he was Chief Executive and Chairman of AEW Capital Management, L.P., Founder and President of the AEW Partners Funds, a Director of Curzon Global Partners and Founder and Chairman of IXIS AEW Europe.
Mr. Azrack is also the Chairman of Apollo Commercial Real Estate Finance (NYSE: “ARI”), and on the Board of Directors of Atrium European Real Estate (“ATRS”), a CPI fund portfolio company. Mr. Azrack holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.S. from Villanova University. He is a past adjunct professor at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business where he is a member of and for many years chaired the Real Estate Program Advisory Board. Mr. Azrack is a member and past Chairman of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA). He is also a Trustee and Member of the Board of Directors of the Urban Land Institute, and is on the Real Estate Advisory Board for the Stanford University endowment.
Colin Dyer Colin Dyer is President and Chief Executive Officer of Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated, the leading integrated global real estate services and investment management firm. The firm has 200 offices worldwide and operates in more than 1,000 locations in 70 countries. Mr. Dyer has overall responsibility for guiding Jones Lang LaSalle’s strategic direction and growth and for chairing the firm’s Global Executive Committee, the most senior internal management committee. He is also a member of the firm’s Board of Directors.
Since Mr. Dyer joined Jones Lang LaSalle in 2004, the firm’s revenues have more than tripled through organic growth, 44 strategic acquisitions across the globe, and the addition of 100 offices and twenty new countries to its geographic footprint.
In 2000, Mr. Dyer was named the founding CEO of the WorldWide Retail Exchange, an Internet-based business-to-business exchange that utilizes sophisticated technology to enable retailers and manufacturers to improve efficiency through e-procurement and supply chain processes. During his tenure, he guided the organization’s strategic direction as it expanded to offices in Washington, D.C., Paris and Tokyo, with a membership of more than 40 of the world’s leading retailers and manufacturers, and US$9 billion worth of activity.
From 1996 until 2000, Mr. Dyer was CEO of Courtaulds Textiles plc, an international clothing and fabric company operating in 17 countries with 22,000 employees and sales of US$1.3 billion. He began his career with Courtaulds in 1982 as Managing Director of the Dutch retail chain, GDL, and held various positions with the company before being named Chief Executive.
Previously, from 1978 to 1982, Mr. Dyer served with McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam as a client manager to firms in the banking, chemical, retail, petrochemical, medical equipment and aerospace industries.
Mr. Dyer holds an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College in London. He speaks Dutch, English and French. He is a member of The Chicago Club and the Economic Club of Chicago and is on the Board of Directors of The Executives’ Club of Chicago and Greenprint Foundation.
