The Bay Bridge ReconsideredAPA California Chapter, Northern SectionSan Francisco, CA Once construction on the Bay Bridge is completed, the San Francisco/Oakland corridor will still have the same transportation capacity as it did before the project began. But with significant job growth expected, the East Bay-to-San Francisco commute may get worse before it gets better. AICP members will learn what we as practitioners can do to prepare for future travel demand on the Bay Bridge, including bicycle paths.
Instructors: Sarah Desnnis-Phillips Ms. Dennis-Phillips is a Senior Planner with the San Francisco Planning Department where she manages plans and programs for the Citywide (long-range) Planning Division. She is currently directing two major updates to the City's General Plan: the Housing Element and the Recreation and Open Space Element. Ms. Dennis-Phillips recently completed work including the Eastern Neighborhoods Area Plans, the Visitacion Valley Redevelopment Plan, and the Upper Market Community Plan. Anthony Bruzzone Mr. Bruzzone is an Associate Principal with Arup. His 30 years of experience includes transit service and operations planning, capital projects, and airport projects. Mr. Bruzzone’s work ranges from the Transbay Transit Center Project to bus service and highway operations analysis. Sandra Hamlat Ms. Hamlat is a Board Member of the East Bay Bicycle Coalition where she focuses on climate change mitigation efforts such as implementation of Climate Action Plans, open streets and bike sharing programs. In this capacity, she is currently a steering committee member of the Berkeley Climate Action Coalition and the Transportation Working Group Chair as well as a Transportation and Land Use Committee Co-chair of the Oakland Climate Action Coalition.
