Free event

Our workshop includes in-depth information on topics related to water quality, watershed management, and community-driven strategies to help improve water quality. We discuss the effect that land use has on water quantity and quality and how Best Management Practices can be implemented in urban areas to help minimize runoff and pollutant loadings in creeks and streams.

We provide real world examples of how planning efforts and Best Management Practices work together to reduce pollutant loadings in creeks, streams, and lakes in Texas. We also discuss environmental law and regulations as they relate to water, including the Clean Water Act, the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act, the 303(d) List, and the Texas Water Quality Inventory. In addition, we discuss important federal and state agencies responsible for managing the water resources in the USA and in Texas.

Furthermore, we include detailed information on specific watershed management strategies including Watershed Protection Plans and Total Maximum Daily Loads, and discuss how these strategies can be implemented to take a holistic approach to managing water quality.
