Welcome to the Alaska Chapter of the American Planning Association.

The Alaska Chapter is a chapter of the American Planning Association, a non-profit public interest and research organization dedicated to urban, suburban, regional and rural planning.

About APA Alaska

The Alaska Chapter was established as a non-profit educational organization in 1980. The Chapter brings planning news and training to planners and Planning Commissions in Alaska and promotes intercommunication among planners in Alaska.

The Chapter is open to all professional planners, Planning Commissioners and other professionals with an interest in planning.

The Alaska Chapter's goals are:

To promote increased knowledge of planning techniques and experience;
To foster intercommunication among the various planning disciplines;
To serve as a public forum for planning issues of general interest;
To foster standards of conduct among those practicing planning;
To facilitate public education and information about planning and to foster citizen involvement;
To promote and facilitate rural/urban interregional communication;
To promote social, economic, and racial equity in the planning practice.

APA Alaska currently has almost 200 members including practicing planners, elected and appointed officials, academicians, citizens who care about planning and students.
