Twenty Years of Multi-Use Trail Planning in Overland Park, KS
Learn about the 20 year evolution of Overland Park's Greenway Linkages Plan, showing examples of the built and planned multi-use trail and discuss the process used to continue to plan, negotiate,
fund, design and build the trail system. Golf carts will be used to
explore 3 miles of the trail system showing a variety of linkages.
Revitalizing KC's Main Street and the Urban Core
Walking/public transit tour, with opportunity to use BikeShare: Use Public Transit to view the improvements along Main Street while having an in-depth discussion of the process to rebrand the Main Street corridor. Stops will be made at key locations along the corridor to discuss the details of the improvements. The tour will continue to the Power and Light District as designers and public planners discus what it took to make it successful. The tour will end at the River Market with discussions surrounding the successful revitalization and the ongoing process.
Country Club Plaza Lessons Learned: Then and Now
Take a walking tour of the Plaza, beginning with a short historical discussion, followed by the planning through the years to protect the Plaza and current planning projects around the Plaza. Includes breakfast and a nuts and bolts discussion of what makes the Plaza
successful including sidewalk widths, materials, landscaping and
mix of uses.
