More Instructors: Jon BLUMENTHAL is an attorney with Baird Holm LLP and a member of the firm's real
estate section. He represents clients with respect to real estate and secured lending, including the
purchase and sale of real estate, construction planning, financing matters, foreclosures, leasing,
bankruptcy/workouts and insolvency matters. Mr. Blumenthal also advises clients regarding
general business issues. He has represented numerous developers on large transactions for wind
energy facilities. These include a complex $500,000,000 financing for a portfolio of wind energy
facilities located in the midwest and southwest that involved a number of domestic and foreign
lenders and the developer of Nebraska's first privately developed C-BED wind energy project, an
80 megawatt wind project in Bloomfield, Nebraska. Mr. Blumenthal served as the firm's hiring
partner from 2003 to 2007. He was named one of The Best Lawyers in America‚® 2011-2012
(copyright 2010 by Woodward/White, Inc., Aiken, SC) for his work in real estate law. Mr.
Blumenthal served on the Nebraska State Bar Association's Real Estate Practice Guidelines
Committee from 2002 to 2009, and completed the Nebraska State Bar Association's inaugural
Leadership Academy in 2007. He is a member of Nebraska State Bar Association. Mr.
Blumenthal earned his B.A. degree from the University of Iowa and earned his J.D. degree from
the University of Kansas School of Law. David Levy is a partner in the law firm of Baird Holm LLP, where he entitles and litigates
large, complex development projects for private and government clients. He also obtains
governmental approvals and prepares real estate and other documents for renewable energy
projects, including wind energy projects. Mr. Levy practices under the National Environmental
Policy Act and California Environmental Quality Act; negotiates land use and subdivision
agreements, easements and related documents; and obtains wetland and endangered species
authorizations and permits. He co-wrote "Preservation as Mitigation Under CEQA" published in
the State Bar of California's Environmental News. Mr. Levy wrote "The Race for the Future:
Issues and Strategies in Agricultural Land Use and Preservation," American Bar Association,
Natural Resources & Environment Journal, Summer 2003; and the State Bar of California
Environmental Law Section Fax Update, Land Use Section, (quarterly, 1999 to present). He
earned his B.A. and M.C.P. degrees from the University of California, Berkeley; and his J.D.
degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Mr. Levy is a member of
the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of California (Environmental Law Section Executive
Committee, October 2001 to present), the American Institute of Certified Planners and the
