Sustainable Agriculture and Food Planning in the WestSonoran InstitutePhoenix, AZ Rising transportation costs and climate variability have a dramatic impact on our food system. To protect residents, particularly vulnerable populations, cities are taking notice and integrating food planning policy into general plans and climate action initiatives. This webinar will give an overview of sustainable agriculture and urban foodsheds and take a closer look at specific food planning efforts in the West.
More Instructors: Diane Kushlan AICP Diane Kushlan has been a practicing planner for over thirty-five years working for small and large public agencies in California, Washington State and Idaho. Her public agency experience includes planning director in Carmel, California and Mercer Island, Washington. In 2002, she started a consulting practice devoted to Idaho cities and counties, and non-profits.
Diane holds a masters degree in City Planning and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). She is currently on the board of the American Planning Association Idaho Chapter, serves as the professional development officer for the Chapter, is the coordinator for the Urban Land Institute Idaho District Council, and is an adjunct professor in the Boise State University Graduate Program in Community and Regional Planning. Rubina Cohen Rubina Cohen is owner and founder of Firefly Santa Fe, a marketing and communications strategy business located in Santa Fe. Working with nonprofits and small businesses for the past eleven years, Ms. Cohen specializes in creating and implementing both traditional and alternative methods of marketing strategy, including social media and social networking. She is the coordinator for Santa Fe’s Food Policy Council. (35 Ratings)
