More Instructors: Ward Graham WARD P. GRAHAM has been an underwriting and claims counsel in the title insurance industry for 25 years, most recently joining WFG National Title Insurance Company (formerly TransUnion National Title Insurance Company) as senior Massachusetts underwriting counsel. Mr. Graham earned his B.A. degree from Tufts University and his J.D. degree from Suffolk University Law School. After a tour of duty as a U.S. Naval Judge Advocate, he spent several years in private practice concentrating in the areas of real estate conveyancing and probate before entering the title insurance industry. Mr. Graham has participated in numerous seminars on topics of real estate law and title insurance and was a guest lecturer for several years for the real estate litigation course at Suffolk University Law School. He is a member of the Massachusetts and New Hampshire bar associations as well as the Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts, for which he serves on the Title Standards and Legislation committees. He is also a member of the Abstract Club, a past president of the New England Land Title Association and a contributing author to the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education publication, Real Estate Title Practice in Massachusetts (specifically, Chapter 4 on Title Insurance, §4.2(c) of which was recently noted by the SJC in footnote 42 of REBA v. NREIS, 459 Mass. 512, 534-535 (2011), for reference with respect to “Massachusetts case law relating to different types of marketable title promised in purchase and sale agreements”). Mr. Graham’s focus throughout his career in the title insurance industry has always been on legal education and creative solutions to title problems in order to facilitate real estate transactions. Kathleen O'Donnell KATHLEEN M. O'DONNELL concentrates her practice in real estate law with a specialty in municipal law including acquisitions of land for open space, affordable housing, and community preservation. Ms. O'Donnell is a past president of the Real Estate Bar for Massachusetts (REBA) and is presently serving as co-chair of the Real Estate Section of the Boston Bar Association. Her professional memberships include the Abstract Club, the Boston Bar Association, REBA, the City Solicitors and Town Counsel Association, NEWIRE, and the Council for Women of Boston College. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Community Preservation Coalition and the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Land Trust Coalition. Ms. O'Donnell is the editor of two MCLE publications: Handling Residential Real Estate Transactions in Massachusetts and Massachusetts Real Estate Law Sourcebook & Citator. She is a graduate of Boston College and the University of Miami School of Law. Edward Rainen EDWARD RAINEN is a principal in the Rainen Law Office, P.C., where his practice focuses on commercial and residential real estate title matters, as well as conveyancing. He serves as a land court examiner and certifying counsel writing policies for eight title insurance companies. Mr. Rainen is a frequent speaker for numerous business and professional organizations on a variety of real estate and title related topics, and he has taught yearly courses in title examination for the Northeastern University's Paralegal Professional Program. Mr. Rainen is immediate past co-chair of the Legislative Committee of the Real Estate Bar Association for Massachusetts and is former co-chair of its Registries Committee. He also holds positions in The Massachusetts Association of Bank Counsel, Inc. Subsequent to his service as co-chair of the Residential Conveyancing Committee of the Boston Bar Association, he served for several years on the Real Estate Section Steering Committee. In the fall of 2001, he was elected to membership in the Abstract Club of Boston, a professional and honorary society limited to 100 lawyers practicing in the greater Boston area, focusing on matters of real estate law. Secretary of State William Galvin appointed Mr. Rainen as one of two lawyer members of the Registry Users Advisory Group, a role in which he served from 2003-2006.
