The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the counties of Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Travis, and Williamson in central Texas. CAMPO was established in 1973 and is governed by the Transportation Policy Board (CAMPO Board) comprised of regional and local officials.
The purpose of CAMPO is to coordinate regional transportation planning with counties, cities, the Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Capital Metro), the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS), Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and other transportation providers in the region and to approve the use of federal transportation funds within the region.
One of the main products of CAMPO is the Long Range Transportation Plan (currently the 2035 plan). The plan is updated regularly and the next scheduled update to the plan (the 2040 plan) will begin in the spring of 2013.
This session will engage planners from around the region to discuss the 2040 planning process including strategies for public engagement, issues related to how the 2040 plan is aligned with locally adopted plans and the regional vision.
