Green Event Planning and Striving for Zero WasteAPA Ohio ChapterColumbus, OH While events bring together hundreds or thousands of people and contribute to the local economy, they also lead to the creation of tons of waste. Aspiring to achieve zero waste can produce significant outcomes, which refers to diverting 90 percent of trash from the landfill by recycling and composting.
There is increasing demand on event planners to consider the environmental and social impacts of events. Green events can contribute to overall environmental protection by incorporating sustainable practices that reduce energy, emissions, water and waste. This event will explore the environmental considerations planners need to take in order to create an event that have minimal environmental impact, or is zero waste.
