American FactFinder WorkshopAPA California Chapter, Northern SectionSanta Rosa, CA Free event The U.S. Census Bureau will present an overview on finding online Census data using American FactFinder. Topics include QuickFacts, navigating interactive maps, using search filters, and working with tables and mapping resources. The workshop will provide planners with the tools to locate demographic data for General Plan updates and other projects.
Instructors: Elaine Lia Bolden Lia Bolden is a Data Dissemination Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau. With over 10 years with the Bureau, Lia comes with a wealth of outreach and data services experience. Lia returned to the U.S Census Bureau in February 2007 for her third Decennial Census. During the Census 2010 national campaign, Lia worked as the regional Complete Count Committee Specialist and was the Bay Area Team Leader. She has worked with the State of California, local governments and community groups to form Census Complete Count Committees. She also engaged faith based organizations, educational institutions, media, businesses and local chapters of national organizations to become Census 2010 Partners. Post decennial, 2000 and 2010, Lia conducted data access workshops and presentations and assisted users with data inquiries. Lia has had a varied career. She held a number of consulting, marketing, public and community relations positions which include, Consultant with the Bay Area Black United Fund, Marin City Community Services District, Disaster Prepardness Trainer, Collaborating Agencies Responding to Disaster, Account Executive for the San Antonio Convention and Visitors Bureau., Director of Marketing for an Oakland/ San Francisco Publishing firm and marketing consultant for an ethnic marketing company. Lia has a BS in Business Administration from California State University, Chico, has completed graduate course work at the University of San Francisco. (4 Ratings)
