Voluntary Agricultural Districts WorkshopNCSU-FEOPFranklin, NC Free event Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) are the State's baseline tool for protecting working farms and forests. Thus, they are a key element for Certified Planners to employ in the development of land use plans and determining future infrastructure investments, and are also essential for farmland protection plans and establishing green infrastructure programs and policies. VADs are also important in local food systems planning. AICP members will learn about the basic requirements for establishing VAD programs in their communities and how VAD programs can become part of a comprehensive strategy for land conservation and incentivizing infrastructure investments to protect farm and forestland.
