The Village of Middlefield's Comprehensive Plan was last update in 2008 by Northstar Planning & Design, Inc. The Comprehensive Plan primarily focused on land-use, planning, transportation planning, and community facilities. The plan may be viewed in its entirety at www.middlefieldohio,com.

Since adoption of the current comprehensive plan, a number of initiatives have occured that relate to or impact the Comprehensive Plan. Examples of additional related activities include annexation of development properties, construction and upgrade of wastewater and water treatment facilities creating additional capacity, implementation of an Economic Development Plan and a national marketing campaign.
