For Vice Chair

Jennie Gordon

Jennie GordonHello members of the Planning & Women Division! I am excited to share a little bit about myself and what I hope to accomplish as Division Vice Chair. In my role as Special Projects Manager at Arlington Economic Development in Arlington, Virginia, I have worked in numerous aspects of planning for over eight years. My academic background includes a Master of Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations/Spanish from The College of William & Mary.

I have been an active member in APA through the Economic Development and Planning & Women Divisions, having been published in Practicing Planner, serving as current co-editor of News & Views, and presenting at the APA National Conference. At the 2012 National Planning Conference, I coordinated the Megapolitan Dinner Program for the Divisions Council and recently helped facilitate a joint cultural-planning event in conjunction with APA's Virginia Chapter.

I see incredible opportunities for women in the planning profession. Our numbers are growing and we are taking on greater leadership roles, using our unique skill sets to work with diverse constituencies and create vibrant and healthy communities. I hope to grow and empower the Planning & Women membership by providing relevant content, professional development and networking opportunities, and by broadening the exposure of women's issues in planning. I look forward to hearing your ideas and thank you for your consideration!
