Technology Division ElectionsThe Technology Division will be holding its elections during January-February 2009. Ballots will be distributed via e-mail, so be sure the information in your APA profile is up to date.

As the new leaders will take office at the Division Annual Business Meeting during the APA National Planning Conference in Minneapolis, April 25-29, 2009, all candidates should plan to attend the conference. Call for NominationsDeadline for candidate statements: January 16, 2009 Are you interested in taking a more active role in defining division activities and programs by serving as an elected division leader? Positions include: Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary-Treasurer, with all terms running for two years. Please review the general descriptions of these positions. To put your name in the hat for one of the elected positions, prepare and submit a brief (not more than 300 words) position statement and a concise summary of your background and qualifications to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Be sure to include any APA or other volunteer leadership experience. Send your statement to Milton Ospina at milton.ospina@navteq.com by January 16, 2009. The Nominating Committee will present a slate of at least one candidate for each office. Candidates' unedited statements will be posted on the Division's website and distributed to the membership. Eligibility RequirementsAll nominees must be paid-up members of the American Planning Association as well as the Technology Division. Nominees may not hold any elected APA national position. PositionsChair The Chair shall (1) preside at all Division meetings, (2) prepare an annual program and budget for approval by the Executive Committee, (3) develop a long range plan, (4) appoint committees and a newsletter editor, (5) assess the need for research, government relations, and contacts with related organizations, (6) serve on the Divisions Council, and (7) be responsible for complying with the requirements specified in the APA Corporate Bylaws, Divisions Council Bylaws, Division Performance Criteria, and any policies approved by the Divisions Council. In the event of the absence or resignation of the Chair, the Vice-Chair becomes the Chair. Learn more about the position (pdf) Secretary/Treasurer The Treasurer shall (1) receive and disburse Division funds, (2) maintain financial records which can be audited, (3) prepare an annual financial report which shall be sent to the APA staff, and (4) assure that all required filings are sent to the APA staff. | |||||||||||||
