

Lauren Trice is a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania pursuing a Masters in City Planning with a concentration in Urban Design. She graduated in 2008 from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia with a Bachelor's of Arts in Historic Preservation. Before returning to graduate school, Lauren was as architectural historian on the eastern plains of Colorado and in the Washington, DC region. She also produced a training video series and report to Congress for the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. Lauren's adventures throughout the United States, Denmark, Jamaica and Chile, have shaped her interest in community engagement and people-based urbanism.
The intent of the UDP Fellowship Program is to foster increased interest in the study of and specialization in urban design and historic preservation, and the interrelationship between these two areas of planning at the advanced undergraduate and graduate levels and for new / emerging professionals.
One fellowship is awarded annually. The term of the fellowship may span anywhere from six months to one year and will include approximately 100 work hours. The fellow will receive a stipend commensurate to the agreed-upon work hours. Fellows conduct their fellowship duties remotely from where they live or attend school. Fellows report directly to the UDP Executive Committee.
Fellow responsibilities will include assisting the UDP Executive Committee with implementing the Division Work Plan; preparing UDP webinar(s) and other educational programs or projects; assisting with the creation of the Division's case study database; preparing articles for publication in the UDP quarterly newsletter; and monitoring nationwide issues that relate to urban design and preservation in the field of planning.
