Pennsylvania Chapter Teams Up for New Commissioner Video APA's Pennsylvania Chapter (the Pennsylvania Planning Association) and Penn State Cooperative Extension have collaborated with Mifflin County (Pennsylvania) Planning and Development Director Bill Gomes, AICP, to produce a new video, "Making Your Mark: How to Be An Effective Planning Commissioner." The video is designed to provide an orientation for new planning commissioners in Pennsylvania and make them feel comfortable with their new responsibilities. The video will provide basic information about the Municipalities Planning Code (MPC), comprehensive planning and implementing regulations, the role of planning commissions, and educational resources available to planning commission members. It will also show current planning commissioners talking about their experiences on a commission and offer hints on how to be effective. According to the Lewistown Sentinel newspaper, the video was filmed by a production team from the Penn State College of Agriculture Sciences and includes interviews with planning commission members from across Pennsylvania. The video is available from the Pennsylvania Chapter. Click here for ordering information.
