Chinese Mayors Plan Visits to 11 American Cities
APA's China Mayors Training Program is aimed at improving Sino-American learning and professional exchanges in city planning and sustainable development. The mayors will participate in lectures and presentations given by American elected and appointed officials, professional planners, and planning professors around the U.S. In each city, the delegations will visit selected sites that demonstrate successful planning and teach important urban lessons. The mayors hope to find answers to their own urban development questions. Members of the delegations will be especially interested in cities with similar geographic, financial, and economic development opportunities and challenges. Physical layout, environmental programs, economic development strategies, and other planning issues in similar cities will help the officials with their decision making back home. This fall, the 27-member Jiangsu mayors' delegation will visit the following cities:
In the past, officials, planners, and educators have APA host the mayors delegations by giving lectures and presentations, organizing city visits, hosting lunch receptions, providing venues for meetings, and providing translation services. We invite you and your colleagues to participate in this visit in similar ways. Please contact Yufeng Guo:
