This position carries out various operations related to land use and long range planning. Job tasks includes GIS support, flood plain management, zoning enforcement, plan review, historic preservation and implementation of the Town's 2035 Comprehensive Plan. This position will work with the Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, Historic Preservation Commission, and/or Arts Commission; and will perform related professional, administrative and technical work as required to plan, organize and implement programs within major organizational policies and to present information to the Town Council and the public.

Candidates should have, or be willing to pursue with Town support, training and certification in any of the following: North Carolina Certified Zoning Official (CZO), Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), Group Facilitation and/or Mediation Certification, Stormwater Reviewer certification, or achievement of American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) membership, GIS ESRI Certification, or other training in land use planning, historic preservation, and community development related fields.
