Job DescriptionRequirements
Education:
BSc or Masters in Information Technology or GIS specialized in database administration or relevant field.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years experience in GIS database administration and data modeling using ESRI GIS software and Oracle with good experience in ArcGIS desktop products, ArcSDE9.2, ArcGIS Server 92 and Oracle Spatial Engine, and SQL.
Skills:
Strong theoretical GIS and database design with background and experience in RDBM
Strong analytical skills and adaptation to continued technical advancements.
Excellent communications capabilities
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Responsible for the creation of spatially enabled database models for an enterprise GIS. Typical tasks include setup, maintenance and tuning of RDBMS and spatial data, as well as development of an enterprise-wide GIS database.
Ensuring the proper implementation of Geo database building set up technical standards for Geodatabase (GDB) design, implementation and monitoring test and validate the GDB Verify and apply the technical standards as required by the specifications Project planning
Implement security policies and procedures, disaster and recovery plans Implement archiving and back up rules for the geospatial data and for GDB Contact Training in GDB administration.
Main Duties/Accountabilities:
Data model design modifications and enhancements—Works with GIS analysts to develop logical data structures for applications, and create logical and physical data models
Data validation and quality—topology, and domains
Version management: Making sure the latest version of database is accurate and up to date.
Data model implementation based on GIS strategic and implementation plan
Data loading and conversion.
Database security and data backup and recovery
Work with a data management team to ensure the timely delivery of geospatial data to the system.
Performance tuning and data replication
Responsible for DBMS software upgrades and service packs.
Performance:
Organize and fine tune the Geodatabase, and make sure the database is accurate and updated frequently. Reacting rapidly to new initiatives, meeting planned targets in a high performance environment.
Progress Reports:
Provide the GIS manager accurate database and QC reports and manage the database successfully. Work in collaboration with GIS team to satisfy the planning spatial data needs.
