We currently have an outstanding opportunity available for a Senior Planner to supervise and perform administrative, professional, and technical advance planning work including supervising assigned planning functions in conjunction with organizational goals, and to oversee and perform work in the development and maintenance of the City’s General Plan.
This challenging position requires a four year degree in planning, public administration, or related field with three years of progressively responsible experience in urban planning, including one year in an administrative or supervisory capacity (a Master’s in Planning may be substituted for one year of the required experience); knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning, including state law and policies regarding planning and the ability to apply them effectively; and the ability to conduct original research and identify economic and demographic trends. Selected candidate must also be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; make oral presentations; work independently, with minimal supervision and direction; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public. A California Class “C” driver’s license or equivalent is also required.
We offer a starting salary of $6,673 to $8,108 per month plus superb benefits including City-contributed retirement plan, cafeteria-style health benefits, and tuition reimbursement.
