The Department of Geography and Regional Planning (GARP), Westfield State University (WSU), invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning September 2014. Academic load is 12 hours teaching.
The department seeks a broadly trained planner with expertise in environmental planning, economic development or transportation. The topical focus is open, but candidates with research and teaching interests in disaster management and climate change adaptation, brownfields, local economies, or site development, are preferred.
Teaching responsibilities include introductory planning/geography courses, and other upper level courses in the area of expertise. Approximately half of the teaching load is in support of the University’s common core.
Advising of regional planning students is required. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an appropriate research and public service program
• Ph.D. in planning, geography or a strongly related field, and a desire to teach undergraduates
• ABD candidates must provide confirmation of completion of all requirements for the Ph.D. by June 15, 2014 for consideration at the Assistant Professor rank
• AICP certification and prior teaching experience are preferred
