The City of Rock Hill is looking for two experienced professionals to fill key roles in the Long-Range Planning Division of the Planning & Development Department.
The first position of Senior Planner requires an experienced planning manager to lead the Long- Range Planning Division. The division currently includes long-range planning, annexation management and transportation planning activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing a team of technical professionals and significant experience in comprehensive plan and small area plan development, physical and policy planning knowledge, some GIS skills, and well-developed technical writing skills. The candidate should have a strong general planning background, including knowledge of and exposure to zoning and current planning activities. Knowledge in transportation planning is desirable.
Position requires a Master’s degree in urban planning or related field supplemented by six to nine years of professional urban planning experience, some of which has been in a supervisory or managerial capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary. AICP preferred.
The second position is for a Planner III to support the City’s increasing focus on internally generated long-range planning studies and reports. Duties will include project management, research and development of plans and reports, coordinating the analysis of census and other demographic information, recommending and implementing annexation policies and strategies, and overall implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, including update in 2014-15.
The ideal candidate will have significant project management experience, both physical and policy planning knowledge, GIS skills, well-developed technical writing skills, and a good generalist planning background.
Position requires a Master’s degree in planning, geography or a related field, and five years of local government planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. AICP preferred.
