LBCS CONVERSION TABLES

As part of the LBCS project, we developed several conversion tables to test the standard. Some data conversion projects may benefit from these tables. They are provided with the understanding that such tables serve as only a starting point and that further customization may be required. For example, the lookup tables may have to be adjusted to match your existing land-use categories. While the actual conversion is a short step, the most time-consuming process is preparing the lookup tables and testing them to see if the conversions suit the application. But time spent here is well worth it because the alternative is to manually adjust individual records.

The main conversion tables are as follows:

SLUCM to LBCS -- the 1965 Standard Land Use Coding Manual to LBCS

SIC to LBCS -- the Standard Industrial Classification to LBCS

NAICS to LBCS -- the North American Industrial Classification Standard to LBCS

DOD CatCodes to LBCS -- the Department of Defense CatCodes to LBCS

Besides the above conversion tables, we also have several other related classifications that may be useful for creating conversion tables. At a minimum, these might save some data entry time.
