2004 Planner's Day on Capitol Hill April 27-28, 2004 Join APA in Washington, D.C., for the 2004 National Planning Conference and take advantage of this special program. APA will arrange meetings between conference attendees and their elected representatives in Congress. Participants will receive a customized itinerary, special training on key messages and tips for effective meetings, and special resources to provide to congressional offices.
Experts on grassroots advocacy will get you ready for meetings with your elected representatives in Congress. You will learn effective techniques for delivering your message on Capitol Hill. Speakers will also provide detailed briefings on APA's legislative priorities and talking points for your meetings. This program will not only prepare you for your congressional meetings but also give you skills for influencing policymaking back home. Meetings will be scheduled on either Tuesday, April 27, or Wednesday, April 28, during the conference, with flexible training opportunities available throughout the conference. Many meetings will be conducted as a delegation from your local area. Making your voice heard on Capitol Hill couldn't be easier. It's easy, and it's important. With the large number of conference attendees for the 2004 National Planning Conference, APA will be a visible and important presence on the Hill during this event. Many issues of importance to planning — transportation, affordable housing, conservation, and environmental protection — will be before Congress, making this a great opportunity to advocate the policies for making great communities happen. Read more about it in the 2004 National Planning Conference brochure, which was mailed in December 2003. Or, contact APA's government affairs office today at govtaffairs@planning.org. |
