CDBG Action Center

President Bush's 2006 proposed budget would virtually dismantle the CDBG program. CDBG is the most important federal tool for implementing local plans and building communities of lasting value. For more than 30 years, countless projects in communities coast-to-coast, large and small, owe their existence to CDBG. Speak up — communities cannot afford to lose such an important federal tool.

Senate Approves Amendment to Protect CDBG
By a vote of 68 to 31, the U.S. Senate adopted an amendment from Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) to restore CDBG funding and keep the program at HUD. The amendment came during consideration of the FY 2006 federal budget resolution. This is great news, but the fight is far from over. Final decisions on CDBG will occur during the appropriations process. Contact your Senators to express your support or your disappointment based on their vote on this important amendment.
