Fellow of the American Institute of Certified Planners (FAICP)

Election to Fellow of AICP is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a member. Fellowship is granted to planners who are members of AICP and have achieved excellence in: professional practice; teaching and mentoring; research; public/community service; and leadership.

The College of Fellows was established in 1999 to recognize the achievements of AICP members through a juried process.

Number: Approximately 400 certified planners have attained the status of Fellow.

Significance:  This honor is recognition of the achievements of the planner as an individual, elevating the Fellow before the public and the profession as a model planner.

Duties: Fellows of AICP are involved with mentoring and future advancement of the planning profession. Often, Fellows willaddress student organizations, APA chapter conferences, or professional development programs.

Induction: Fellow’s are inducted every two years at a special ceremony during APA’s National Planning Conference. The next class of Fellows will be inducted in 2010.
