Scott J. Diehl, AICP
Scott Diehlhas been promoted to vice president with Urban Engineers, Inc. He will continue to serve as the firm's chief traffic engineer and be responsible for managing traffic efforts across the company. Diehl has 18 years of experience in transportation and traffic engineering projects through the Mid-Atlantic region. He is a registered professional engineer and a member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. Diehl is based in the firm’s Cherry Hill, New Jersey, office.

Michael J. (Jeff) Mayhew, AICP, a 21-year Baltimore County, Maryland, planning office staffer, has been promoted to deputy director of community development. He was formerly who currently serves as chief of community planning. Mayhew earned a master's degree in public administration from the University of Baltimore. He will oversee the 2012 comprehensive zoning map process as well as development review and strategic planning.

Monica Carney Holmes, AICP
Monica Carney Holmes, AICPhas joined the Carolinas office of international building, design, and planning firm Lawrence Group as associate planner/urban designer. Holmes is experienced in neighborhood design, site planning, coding, graphic design, and project management. She has a master's degree in city and regional planning from Clemson University and is currently working on a corridor study in Aiken, South Carolina, and a master plan for the City of Beaufort.

Scott Curry
Scott Curryrecently joined Lawrence Group's Carolinas office as a planner/urban designer. Curry is an experienced planner with a focus on sustainable urbanism. He has master's degrees in urban planning and urban design from the University of Michigan and is an APA Urban Design and Preservation Division National Fellow. He is currently working on the Civic Master Plan for the City of Beaufort, South Carolina, and the Corridor Study for US1 in Aiken County.

Chandra Krout, AICP, has launched Krout & Associates, a Southern California strategic consulting firm, whose services range from climate action plans to assessment of sustainable wine harvesting and production, and third-party verification in green building and sustainable practices. Krout has more than 10 years of public sector and private consulting experience.

Stephanie Allewalt, AICP, was recently selected as one of 6 Under 36 by Shelterforce, a publication of the National Housing Institute. Allewalt was one of six planners under the age of 36 asked to write about where they think the field of planning currently is and and where it's going.

Sharon Wason, AICP
Sharon Wason, AICPhas been named town planner in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Her responsibilities include subdivision and site plan applications, monitoring work for compliance with permits, preparing long-range studies, and obtaining grants. Wason previously worked at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and as executive director of the Central New Hampshire Regional Planning Commission in Concord, New Hampshire.

David Scurto, AICP, has been named principal owner of Carlisle/Wortman Associates, a community development services firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Scurto has been an associate at the firm since 2007. He previously worked for Hamilton-Anderson Associates, The Strader Group, and Gerald Luedtke Associates, all in Michigan. He also chairs the Macomb County, Michigan, brownfield redevelopment authority.

Benjamin Carlisle, AICP, is now a community planner with Carlisle/Wortman Associates, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He came to the firm from Teska Associates in Evanston, Illinois, where he served as the consulting planner to several communities in Illinois and Wisconsin. He was previously a planner with the City of Highland Park, Illinois, and an economic development consultant for the City of Chicago. 

Richard Carson
Richard Carsonhas been appointed city administrator for the city of Cascade Locks, Oregon. He will manage all city functions including planning, fire, parks, public works, code enforcement, and the city's electric utility. Carson has 30 years of planning experience at the city, county, regional, and state level. He has also been accepted in the Washington State University doctoral program where he will pursue organizational development in the public sector.

Richard F. Brown, Jr., AICP, has successfully completed the course work and two field projects required to become a Certified Business Solutions Professional (CBSP) through Michigan State University's School of Labor & Industrial Relations in the College of Social Sciences.

Clement Lau, AICP, has received his Doctorate in Policy, Planning, and Development (DPPD) from the University of Southern California. His doctoral project focused on alternative ways, locations, and partners to meet the recreational needs of underserved communities in Los Angeles County.

Clement Lau, AICP, has been promoted to departmental facilities planner in the Los Angeles County department of parks and recreation. His responsibilities include determining parkland obligations for subdivisions and preparing park and recreation plans for unincorporated areas of the county. Lau previously worked for the county's department of regional planning and the firm of Cotton/Bridges/Associates in Pasadena.

Trenton L. Funkhouser, AICP, has been appointed county administrator of King William County, Virginia, beginning January 1, 2011. He is currently the town manager for West Point, Virginia, a position he has held since February 2004. Before his employment in West Point, Funkhouser was director of planning in Westmoreland County, Virginia, and held planning positions in Mathews County and the City of Williamsburg, both in Virginia.
