Tips for Getting E-mail from APA APA uses e-mail for a number of important communications with members. The association's e-newsletter interact, is sent twice a month to all members. We also send APA Advocate, an electronic monthly filled with news about federal and state legislation and policy issues of interest to planners. E-mail notifies members about important National Planning Conference information and tells AICP members that new issues of Practicing Planner are available. These are just a few examples. If you haven't been receiving e-mail from APA, or find that e-mail delivery is sporadic, there are some things you can do. Update Your Profile It's possible that you don't have an e-mail address on file with APA, or that the e-mail address there is an old one or contains a typo. Visit www.planning.org/myapa/ to check your e-mail address and other contact information. You can make immediate changes using this convenient online form.
E-mails such as interact often are caught in e-mail spam filters even though they are from an organization of which you are a member. But spam filters at work, at home, or on web-based e-mail services can be "taught" to let APA e-mail through. At work, ask the person in charge of e-mail to permit the following e-mail address through the filter:
At home, add the above e-mail address to your address book. (Vresp.com is the domain of APA's e-mail distributor, Vertical Response.) On web-based services, such as Yahoo! mail or Hotmail, check the bulk mail folder for any APA e-mail and use that service's specified method for indicating that the e-mail is not spam. Outlook Help The default setting in Outlook 2003 is to block the images in HTML emails. To change the setting so you can view the e-mail, go to the "Tools" menu in Outlook 2003 and click on "Options". Then click on the "Security" tab Check to see under "Download Images" if the box is checked for the command "Block images and other external content for HTML emails." If this box is checked, uncheck the box and click "Apply." You will be able to read APA's e-mail messages and e-newsletters as formatted. | |
