Don't miss the big events
Four keynote speeches connect you to big names and big ideas. The National Planning Awards luncheon celebrates the best plans, projects, and planners from across the country. The APA and AICP Annual Meeting is your chance to hear from APA's elected officers. Be sure to make room in your schedule for these must-do events.
Get the latest
New research. Case studies. Groundbreaking ideas. You'll find the latest planning ideas, along with proven best practices, at conference sessions. With more than 300 to choose from, you're sure to find dozens that interest you. If you're interested in a particular topic — such as paying for growth or transportation — follow one of the 10 conference tracks. You don't need to preregister for these 75-minute presentations, but it's a good idea to build them into your schedule — and it helps us make sure there is enough space in each workshop or session room for all the people who want to attend.
Build your skills
Daylong workshops on Sunday offer in-depth training on two dozen topics. GIS workshops throughout the conference will help you bring your technical skills up to date. You can find out about other innovative ways to incorporate technology into planning at the Technology Showcase. Please note that some of these skill-building activities require fees in addition to the general conference registration fee. Fees are noted in the end of the workshop description.
Make connections
The conference offers numerous opportunities to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. The Monday night opening reception is a great place to connect with colleagues. Explore APA's 21 special interest divisions by attending a business meeting or the networking reception. Attend the Diversity Forum to learn about APA's initiatives and outreach. Continue making connections throughout the week at a variety of breakfast meetings, luncheons, and university alumni gatherings. Peer-facilitated discussions also take place throughout the conference.
Check out the Planning Expo
Be sure to stop by the Planning Expo, where you can see the latest products and services from more than 100 exhibitors, grab a cup of coffee, find out what's new at the APA Pavilion, and check out research your peers around the country have done at the poster sessions. If you're looking for a new job, you'll also want to stop by Job Connection, where employers and candidates can meet face-to-face.
Explore planning in the region
Attending the conference isn't just about what happens in the meeting rooms. Get out and see what you can learn from Las Vegas and the surrounding area. Take an orientation tour to get to know the area. Or sign up for mobile workshops that take you to mixed use developments, green buildings, arts districts, stormwater management projects, and more.
