Copyright Compliance
All presenters are responsible for abiding by copyright laws.
- You need permission to use others' work and you must credit them.
This includes photographs; diagrams; excerpted pages from codes or
zoning regulations; any image found online; pictures; scanned copies
or screen captures of printed materials; and any other image or document
that has been created by someone other than you. This also pertains
to conference handouts. Do not distribute written materials for which
you have not obtained permission.
- If you find an image or document that you would like to use, contact
the creator or author! Because you are using the material for educational
purposes, most people and organizations will not charge you for use
of their intellectual property.
- If you have been granted permission
to use another's work, credit the author or creator using a text box
in your presentation or on the handout. Include the author/creator's
name and organization and be sure to note that the material is "used
with permission."
- If you are in doubt about whether your use of
an image or document violates copyright law, DO NOT USE IT.
- For more information about copyright laws, please visit www.copyright.gov. The "Copyright Basics" circular at www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.html provides a useful summary of copyright laws.
Technology Showcase Registration Policy
All Technology Showcase presenters or speakers MUST be paid registrants. By registering online, you can avoid the paper registration fee or, if you prefer, you can fill out the registration form included in the back of the Preliminary Program. Both options will be available in December 2007.
Most speakers will register at the speaker rate of $695 for the conference. Those presenting on Sunday and Monday may take advantage of the Sunday/Monday registration option, if they attend only those days of the conference.
Registration Options
Full-Paid, Registrant Speaker
If you plan to participate in the entire conference, register online to pay the speaker registration fee of $695. Register early in order to secure tickets to popular mobile workshops, evening events, and orientation tours. These ticketed events are available for an additional fee. After online registration closes, you must register onsite — if a speaker has not registered before online registration closes, an invoice will be generated and he or she will be expected to pay the conference fee onsite. Speakers that have confirmed their participation but do not attend the conference will be expected to pay the invoice. Send an e-mail to speakerinfo@planning.org if you will not attend the conference.
Sunday/Monday Paid Registrant
A Sunday/Monday registration rate is available to speakers whose Technology Showcase presentations are on Sunday or Monday and they are attending the conference on only those days. This registration fee covers all conference events taking place on Sunday and Monday. Ticketed events, such as orientation tours and mobile workshops, are available for an additional fee.
