Checking in at the Speaker Preview Room is the single most important action you will take to ensure your presentation is a success. The Speaker Preview Room is staffed with audiovisual technicians who are readily available to assist you.
When reviewing your presentation, you should make sure all fonts appear as expected and all sound and video clips are working properly. You will be able to edit your presentation at this time. Once you are through reviewing your presentation and verify it is ready, audiovisual personnel will re-save your presentation to the server.
When you are ready to begin your presentation, the file will be loaded on the computer in the session room. Each session room will be staffed with an audiovisual person, who will assist in starting each presentation. Once the presentation is launched, you will control the slides from the podium using a computer mouse.
If you plan on bringing your own laptop for your presentation, audiovisual staff will be happy to work with you. It is important to go to the Speaker Preview Room the day before or at least four hours prior to your presentation. Audiovisual technicians will be available to ensure that every presentation runs smoothly.
Presentation and Software
We recommend PowerPoint for all users. If Internet access was requested for your session room, web browsers with typical plug-ins will also be available, including Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. Please use either Real Networks Real Player, Flash, Shockwave, or Windows Media Player. You can also contact Brian Reynolds via e-mail at breynolds@psav.com, or phone 214-210-8037 to ensure your presentation will work properly.
PC and Macintosh Platforms
The computers in the presentation rooms will be Windows XP based PCs with Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 installed. Presentations created both on PC and Macintosh platforms should work, but verification of proper performance, particularly if video is included in the presentation, is essential. All videos should be in an .avi or .mpg (not .mov) format, so they will run properly on the computers provided. Additionally, Macintosh users should name their presentations with a .ppt suffix.
Security
- You will need to provide identification to submit your presentation.
- CDs are returned to the speaker.
- Cameras and video equipment are not permitted in the Speaker Preview Room.
