CHICAGO — Glenn Larson, AICP, an Assistant Director with the Chesterfield County, Virginia Planning Department, has been elected to serve on the commission of the American Planning Association's (APA) professional institute, the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
Larson will represent the interests of AICP members. As one of eight commissioners, Larson will be responsible for governance of the Commission and setting strategic goals. He began his four-year term May 30. This is a volunteer position.
Larson is a certified planner and has served more than 20 years in the Chesterfield County Planning Department. Prior to his current position, Larson worked in the Charlottesville, Virginia, Department of Community Development and on a regional planning council in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
He is a Charter member of AICP, and has served more than 20 years in the APA Virginia Chapter, including as chapter president, treasurer, and award committee chair. He also served as the chapter's professional development officer and received the APA Chapter Presidents Council Leadership Award in 2010 for a Chapter Professional Development Officer.
Larson has a master's degree in City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and a bachelor's degree from Miami University.
