June 27, 2012 Wilson's Planning and Development Services Director Elected to National Planning BoardCHICAGO — Rodger Lentz, AICP, the City of Wilson, North Carolina's Planning and Development Services Director, was elected to serve as a Director on the American Planning Association's (APA) Board of Directors. APA is a 40,000-member organization that provides leadership in the development of vital communities. Lentz began his term May 30.
Lentz has more than 16 years of professional planning experience in the public sector. He is a certified planner and earned his master's degree from University of North Carolina Charlotte and received the Ronald Taylor Award for Outstanding Graduate. He also received the Edwin Gill Award for Outstanding student from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill School of Government. Within APA, Lentz has held a variety of leadership positions in the APA North Carolina Chapter, including president, as well as serving on the Leadership Development Task Force and the Legislative Committee. In his community, Lentz serves on the Wilson Sustainable Community Council; the North Carolina League of Municipalities Planning and Environment Legislation Action Committee; the Hand and Hand Mentoring Program at Hearne E.S.; and previously served on the Davidson, North Carolina, Planning Board.
