About Me
A professional urban planner with 20 years public and private experience. A recent member, I'm looking foward to getting involved in the APA.
Relocating to Miami eight years ago, I joined DPZ CoDESIGN as an Urban Planner. At DPZ I’ve been able to explore my interests and learn about the new urbanism movement. Highlights include studying and applying the latest planning techniques as they relate to downtown revitalisation, mixed-use neighborhoods, adaptable building types, smart cities, tactical and lean urbanism, autonomous vehicles, and streamlined processes.
Prior to this, I’ve been fortunate to spend much of my career with the Scottish Government in the United Kingdom. As Assistant Chief Planner and member of the Senior Management Team I enjoyed working on innovative high-profile projects. These included preparation of the National Planning Framework, mainstreaming place-making policy, and modernizing the Scottish planning system.
More recently, in 2021 I returned to the public sector joining the City of Miami Planning Department team. In my role as Chief of Urban Design I apply my energy and expertise by working closely with communities and developers create succesful and unique places within the City.
I enjoy a healthy lifestyle and love to run on Miami Beach boardwalk. Passionate about sports, Arsenal FC is the family soccer team, and Dolphins my newly adopted football team!
Whenever possible I participate in volunteer work to enhance our Collins Park neighborhood. This year we have achieved beach clean-ups, public realm improvements, and fun community activities.
Travelling extensively, I have been fortunate to experience many places and cultures arounfthe world including living and studying in Kaoshiung, Taiwan on a one-year career break.
