About Me

It is clear that a technological and social communication tidal wave is heading our way, I like to engage neighbors, community leaders, and entrepreneurs as to what the near future will bring and how it will affect our habitats and environments. Besides being interested in all aspects of the human habitat ecosystem, transportation, ICT, economic development, trade, culture, arts and public space, I am particularly fascinated by projects at the intersection of technology and the user experience in cityscapes.

Professional Biography

I have pursued a career path different than most planning professionals. Having obtained a Master’s Degree as an Urban Planner (MUP) and some experience as a Planner I in Portland Oregon many years ago, I have been working as an Information Systems and computer applications developer. In that capacity, I have worked closely with municipal and county governments and stayed close to my planning roots. As a professional with over twenty years of experience in project management and program development, my experience is directly relatable to working in the new frontiers of urban, land use and human habitat design utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) infrastructure. I am a strong proponent of the idea that transportation and information technology are two sides of the same coin, communication. There are creative ways to forge Public Private Partnerships to conceive, design and implement projects for social good such as the development of multi-generational community centers that provide youth and senior activities centered around a FabLab and new tools for light manufacturing, with design and computer resource close at hand. We could get the generations working together again. Equal opportunity begins with open and equitable access to mobility. Building a proper transportation infrastructure that is designed for quality of life and economic empowerment is perhaps the key to a healthy and vibrant urban and rural regional eco-system where all can climb the ladders of opportunity.
