a. Not Applicable

b. Responses to Question #15 (What other coastal decision support tools (including models) would improve your planning practice/analysis/research?) are provided in the Raw Survey Response Matrix.

Table 5e lists 36 tools for which Atlantic Southeast coastal region respondents were asked to rate their importance for planning practice, analysis, and research. The five tools with the highest percentage of very high or high importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Impervious Surface Analysis Tool (74%);
  2. Coastal County Snapshots (65%);
  3. Hazards U.S. Multi-Hazard (HAZUS-MH) (62%);
  4. CanVis Visual Simulation Tool (56%); and
  5. Airborne LIDAR Data Processing and Analysis Tools (55%).

The five tools with the highest percentage of low or very low importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (42%);
  2. Nautical Chart Viewer (39%);
  3. U.S. Marine Protected Areas Online Mapping Tool1 (39%);
  4. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (38%); and
  5. Chart Reprojector2 (34%).

The tools with more than 25% of respondents rating the tool as "Not Applicable" are:

  1. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (28%);
  2. Benthic Terrain Modeler (27%);
  3. Chart Reprojector (26%); and
  4. Nautical Chart Viewer (26%).

Endnotes

1. U.S. Marine Protected Areas Online Mapping Tool allows users to access and explore classification and spatial data on all Marine Protected Areas in the U.S.

2. Chart Reprojector allows users to "re-project" digital NOAA nautical charts with this stand-alone application.
