Table 5h lists 36 tools for which Gulf of Mexico coastal region respondents were asked to rate importance for planning practice, analysis, and research. The five tools with the highest percentage of very high or high importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Impervious Surface Analysis Tool (77%);
  2. Coastal County Snapshots (73%);
  3. Hazards U.S. Multi-Hazard (HAZUS-MH) (61%);
  4. CanVis Visual Simulation (60%); and
  5. Cumulative Impacts Model1 (60%).


The five tools with the highest percentage of low or very low importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (46%);
  2. Benthic Terrain Modeler (40%);
  3. MarineMap (37%);
  4. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (37%); and
  5. Nautical Chart Viewer (37%).


The tools with more than 20% of respondents rating the tool as "Not Applicable" are:

  1. Multi-Purpose Marine Cadastre (23%);
  2. Nautical Chart Viewer (22%);
  3. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (22%); and
  4. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (21%).
