a. Not Applicable

b. Responses to Question #15 (What other coastal decision support tools (including models) would improve your planning practice/analysis/research?) are provided in the Raw Survey Response Matrix.

Table 5i lists 36 tools for which Mid-Atlantic coastal region respondents were asked to rate importance for planning practice, analysis, and research. The five tools with the highest percentage of very high or high importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Impervious Surface Analysis Tool (77%);
  2. Coastal County Snapshots (64%);
  3. Nonpoint-Source Pollution and Erosion Comparison Tool (64%);
  4. Landscape Fragmentation Tool (63%); and
  5. Digital Shoreline Analysis System1 (60%).

The five tools with the highest percentage of low or very low importance ratings from respondents are:

  1. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (41%);
  2. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (36%);
  3. MarineMap (35%);
  4. Benthic Terrain Modeler (34%); and
  5. Nautical Chart Viewer (34%).

The tools with at least 25% of respondents rating the tool as "Not Applicable" are:

  1. Multi-Purpose Marine Cadastre (28%);
  2. Chart Reprojector 2 (28%);
  3. Nautical Chart Viewer (27%);
  4. Electronic Navigational Chart Handler (26%); and
  5. Practitioner's Toolkit for Marine Conservation Agreements (26%).

Endnotes

1. Digital Shoreline Analysis System computes rate-of-change statistics from multiple historic shoreline positions.

2. Chart Reprojector allows users to "re-project" digital NOAA nautical charts with this stand-alone application.
